Happy Thursday! Today I'm going to share with you a spread out of my Travelers Notebook, featuring the Clique Kits EXCLUSIVE collection, This is Us. If you haven't picked up this collection yet, run to the shop before (and than come back). There are several options to purchase this kit, including the physical kit with lots of awesome exclusives, digital version, and just the paper pack.
For my inspiration I printed off the May 2018 Sketch Challenge design by Gia Lau. Each month Clique Kits shares a sketch to help inspire you. Feel free to use it and share your projects in The Clique or on social media with us.
I'm not going to lie, this spread was a struggle from the beginning. I actually printed out the sketch and because it was almost the size of my Travelers Notebook spread, I cut it apart to use as a template to cut my "ray" pieces.
The first thing I did to this spread was prep it with Gesso. I wanted to try this new gold paint I purchased, so I painted on a thin layer. At this stage I really had no plan.
I decided to stick with the black and white papers in the collection and added some black and white washi tape from my stash. At this stage the layout is still a works in progress as I decide how to proceed. I splattered the page with black acrylic ink as well, based on the sketch for inspiration.
I added the "I Am Here to Love out Loud" ephemera piece and layered two doilies behind it. The first doilie was white and I used distress inks to add color to match the This Is Us collection. I cut a gold doilie in half and added it to the opposite side of where the gold paint is applied.
Because it is a travelers notebook, I had to cut this piece down the center before adding it to my spread.
I finished the layout off with the This is Us vellum hearts, label, and sequins. As well as Bella Blvd Black Enamel hearts, roller stamp, and "Stay Focus" stamp.
Thanks for joining me today! Don't be afraid to add a little paint to your layouts. It adds a new texture layer and interest to your creations.
