It's Heather Doolittle with a mixed media layout to share with you today that I made using this month's awesome Horizon kit.
I haven't used mixed media on a layout in a while, so I took it easy and used some watercolors to begin. I sketched out where I wanted my 6 circles on my layout so I could paint around those areas. I didn't want to cover up all of the watercolor when I placed the paper back on my page. When you paint over the pencil marks, you really can't tell they were there. Some of them disappear, some of them don't. If they're still visible, I just say it adds to the mixed media effect! ;)
After making my layout (adding all of the fun embellishments to the papers), I added some little white painty marks with a paintbrush (similar to some of the little painty strokes on some of the Illustrated Faith All People All Nations papers that are included in the kit this month). I don't think you can see them in the photos since it's white on white, but in person you can tell that they're there. I finished off my mixed media page by doodling some little plus signs around the page.
When is the last time you used mixed media on your layout? I need to do this more often-- I love the outcome!
