Hey everybody! Khristina here with my first project using the January kits and can I just stop and say that I am completely in love?! The kits this month have SO much stuff!!! There are so many options to play and create with this month that I had to choose just a few things and put everything else away for fear of having it all end up on the same project.
I decided to start out in my traveler's notebook this month as I really wanted to play around with some of the labels that we had included from Pretty Little Studio. When I looked at them, I decided that I wanted to use them in a unique way rathe than as labels so I grabbed the series with a line in it and flipped them on their sides to create what I was hoping looked like flower stems. I then created my own flowers with some of the patterned paper and sequins using a REALLY OLD punch that has been in my stash forever and a day. Here are the three pieces that I used to create each dimensional flower top.
I simply layered the patterned paper one on the bottom and then the white flower on top with the sequin in the middle. For each flower, I glued the patterned paper layer flat with my layout and then only put glue for the white one in the very middle so that the petals would be dimensional. (*What a great use for a patterned paper that wasn't my favorite too!) I just grabbed some colored pencils to doodle in the leaves too!
I also new that I wanted my photo to extend across both pages of the my TN spread so I added a thin white cardstock mat and then created an embellishment cluster in the top left using the ephemera we received from the Vicki Boutin collection combined with the ephemera from the Bohemian Dreams collection (from the main kit). Adding some dimensional adhesive to the little banner helped it to stand out since that was going to be used as my title this time. I even added a tiny bit of stamping in the cluster with the rolling phrase stamp from the TN kit.
Last but not least was my journaling. For this particular traveler's notebook insert, each spread is a letter from me to my daughter about something in her personality or life that I am noticing right now. I just grabbed one of the journaling spots from the kit, added my short little letter and a little dimensional adhesive, and I was done. I really love how this layout came together and I hope that you do too. I would love it if you would stop by and check out the process video as well to get a closer look into my creating process.
I can't wait to see what you create with this kit! Make sure to tag me so that I can check out your projects this month and I will back to see you again soon!
