Hi friends! It's Khristina back again with another super fun layout and process video to share with you. I am just loving this month's kit a lot more than I thought I would. At first, Glitter Girl wasn't my favorite collection but after seeing it in person and playing with the collection, it is SUPER fun. The great part is that it really works for both projects for girls and boys. That always makes a collection amazing in my book!
For this week's project, I wanted to use that gorgeous diagonal paper with the sharp lines. In order to emphasize those lines even more, I added some hand-stitching. I love how the white stitches ties the yardstick background and the mat around my photo together. Make sure to check out the process video because I included some close-up video clips of how I do a simple back stitch on my layouts.
I knew that I wanted to include a fun border on the diagonal that I created and the beautiful floral stickers and die cuts from the ephemera pack were just perfect. I decided to scatter the die cuts first (I used two ephemera packs worth) and put those on foam dimensional adhesive. Then, I filled in the gaps with stickers from the sticker book in the kit. I tried to balance the gold foil stickers with the white border stickers throughout my floral design. I made sure to save a couple of floral pieces for embellishing the edge of my photo and the edge of my title element.
My daughter was so totally in love with this parasol that she picked up at the local Hawaiian Cultural Festival that I knew "Parasol Love" would make a perfect title. I wanted to include two different fonts in my title because I love the look of mixing and matching. This kit was perfect for that because it has the large foam glitter thickers as well as the small pink block alphas.
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I included hand-stitching as a design element to tie a layout together as well as how I created a strong diagonal element on my page. Please stop by and check out the process video as well. Until next time, happy crafting!
