Aloha!! It's Hannah here with you today! I am using the Main October Girl Tribe Kit.
I love Geek Lab days. I love this thinking outside of the box to use my kit. I don't know about you but if I don't change things up I get bored. I can have amazing products with all my favorite color combos and cute little embellishments, but in the end if I don't challenge myself I find myself sitting at my desk just staring at all these pretty products.
And then that makes me guilty and irritated because I love scrapping, it's time for me to be me. So how do we challenge ourselves without losing our own style and self as scrap? I try to think outside the box, how can I tell the stories I have pictures for in a fun and colorful way.
I was thinking about how I could use this month's cut files. The designers at the Clique are amazingly talented and these files get added to my download folder each month, I really don't want them just sitting there taking up precious computer space. Unless I use them. This month we have some coffee cups and a unicorn. They match the kit so well, but I how do I mesh that with my pictures? In the end if I can't make them work with the pictures I have or the stories I could tell they sit on my computer.
Well I will be honest I have no idea how I will use the unicorn. It would make an awesome mini album shape, but that really wasn't screaming at me to run to my desk and scrap right away. The coffee cups though, are my style. I love coffee. How can I make this cup file work in a way to tell a story or use a photo I have in a different way. Because let's face it, I don't really need 50 layouts of my love for coffee. I could do it, because it's my albums but I really don't want to do that.
I decided to do something different with the cut file and drop a photo into the cut file in the silhouette software. To do this, you open your cut file in the silhouette software. Then you go to your file of photo and grab your desired photo with your mouse and move it over your silhouette software with the cut file open. You will need to have kept your silhouette software program open in order to do this. Drop the image over the cut file and it should fit into the cut file. It sizes the image to fit your cut file. This is so helpful because if you use the print and cut feature in the silhouette software you can then add this cut file with the image in it on the page with the registration marks and print your photo first then add it to your silhouette mat and feed it into your machine and the silhouette will recognize the cuts and cut your file.
I used the coffee cup cut file and added a picture of a screen shot from one of my scrappy friends group chat. I didn't really need the whole image to really be showing I just wanted the cup file to have something in it, that wasn't patterned paper but added interest. What better than our own words chatting to each other?!
Here is how it looks all down.
It's really subtle but gives the effect I was looking for. This same technique would have looked really cool using the unicorn cut file and printing off pictures in the unicorn shape and adding papers in that shape too.
I did back the cut file with the chat bubble patterned paper from the kit. I used wet glue to make sure all the little lines from the cut file were adhered. Also, one piece of advice, use a really sharp blade when cutting this file. I found with the file not expanded to the 12x12 size and on thinner cover stock, it did not want to come off my silhouette mat and was really thin in some areas. Overall though I love how this looks. To help tie in the conversation aspect of my layout, I printed off some of the screen shots I had saved from previous conservations we have had in the past.
I cut out more of the speech bubbles and found some of them in the die cut pack. I popped some of them on pop dots and spread them around with white card stock as a background. I even added one of the star shaker speech bubbles.
The holographic stars are so much fun, I scattered them around too. I actually felt like I didn't need to add much embellishing. I was fully prepared to add those fuzzy pom poms or the little hearts. As I added the speech bubbles and the stars I listened to my gut and let the bubbles do the talking.
I used the main kit printables that Gia designed. I loved this #tribe, and really it was one of the things that sparked this layout or at least the direction I wanted to go. I have been wanting to tell the story of my tribe. I have been wanting to document just how special it is to me and what it means to me, I really feel it is so important to me to document these things for my family, my girls. How important it is to find and keep friends close to you and how important they are to having a healthy life. I want my girls to know I loved not just them but others too. What it look like to have real friendships that are positive. If we as women don't tell our story how will those after us now what real friendships and positive relationships and fun looks like.
To finish my layout I doodled with a black journaling pen around the outside of the white card stock. I added my journalling under my title. I used the word foam glitter Thickers to finish the title. I love the way a patchwork title looks. I finished with my trusty date stamp in just the year. I did this because many of the images were from different dates, and really it didn't matter to me the date as long as I can remember what year it was.
Here is one last look at my finished layout.
Don't forget to check out the store for all the cut files and printables I used one this layout, as well as quite a few more. There are tons of other cool add ons in the Store as well, use my code Hannah10 and you will get 10% off your order. The Clique Kits Girls
Hello!! Jody here today with a mask and some misting! First off, I started with the beautiful dark woodgrain paper from Fancy Pants. I've been itching to do some misting lately so I took out my Studio Calico Mr. Huey's white spray ink. I love Mr. Huey's because the ink is opaque and provides a fabulous contrast on your layouts, just like in my layout below! I've had this sweet photo of 2 of our girls in mind to scrap for a long time and this woodgrain paper was the perfect fit! The photo was taken on the dock of the Fox River in our little town. My hubby, Brad, works the boat patrol during the summers and our girls I brought him dinner on this particular night. There's something so calming about being near the water. Ahhhh.. summer days!
To create my misted background, I used a 6" gold foil doily as my mask and then actually used the same doily right on the layout after I dried it off with a paper towel. I wanted the wood grain and misting to be very visible on the majority of my layout, so I stuck with smaller elements to frame my 4x4" Instagram picture, such as the several of our Clique Kits exclusive printables & flair, Fancy Pants journaling cards, May Arts Burlap String and the awesome hand punched map paper confetti. Your layout doesn't necessarily have to be nautical or travel themed in order to incorporate certain elements. Our girls were just near the water and I felt these elements still worked very well. I also used the May Arts Natural Burlap String to create a little circle of rope at the bottom right of my layout. This was symbolic of the boat's rope that Brad used to tie the boat to the dock. I also used the burlap string to tie around my title journaling card for some added texture.
There are some close ups of my layout. You can see several of the little exclusive printables peaking out from behind my photo and the gold foil doily. I printed my printables out onto glossy photo paper, which turned out fabulous!! I used an aqua colored fine point Sharpie marker to write my journaling right onto my exclusive printable tag. Try printing out your Clique Kits printables onto a variety of paper types such as vellum (like Erica did in THIS POST), cardstock, photo paper, linen paper, and more!! We'd love to hear about something you printed yours out on, so please feel free to share!
Here's a much closer look at my gold foil doily masking element and the misting. I wasn't shy about spraying my paper at all. I just placed my gold foil doily right onto my paper and gave my Mr. Huey's a good push down onto the spray nozzle!! I think the key to utilizing any mask is to let the ink dry on the paper for a few minutes before you actually move your mask off of your project. After I let mine dry, I carefully removed my 6" gold foil doily and dried it with a paper towel. Then, it became one of my page embellishments!
Another fun way to create more page elements from the products in your kit is to USE YOUR TOOLS! Check out the cute pink journaling card that serves as my title below. I used a Martha Stewart heart punch along the bottom, then added that heart to the other side of my photo, holding the 'rope'. That fun negative heart space was the perfect spot to add another Clique Kit's hand punched anchor shape from map paper.

First up, we have the random Blog share hopper prize of a Debutante paper pack (from Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection!) which goes to Renee Joy! She is now a subscriber to the Clique Kits Blog/Newsletter by email and here is her comment:
"Yes, I knew the hop would be awesome!! Great job ladies!! 'Loving all of the inspiration, too!!" -Renee Joy
Renee, please email Clique Kits with your address so we can send your prize right out to you!
As a side note, if you have already subscribed, but have not been receiving our emails even though you have not unsubscribed, please try to subscribe again. I received a notice from Mail Chimp that for a couple of weeks Yahoo was bouncing emails in error, which led to removal from our list. The problem seems to be fixed, but we don't want anyone out of the loop!
Okay, now back to winners!
The winner of the Honor Society Challenge is Mandee Gillen a.k.a Scrappin' Madge! As an optional activity for this share, we challenged participants to share something about themselves either in writing, photos, or on their layouts or projects.
The Clique Kits gals loved the enthusiasm that Madge showed the Clique leading up to and during the blog share. She also took the time to share more about herself in her post (and her cute little Pug doggy child) AND she showed us pictures of her incredible scrapping space! In case you missed the blog share, you should go back and check out all of the inspiration on the blogs who who participated. We were kind of blown away by the talent in our Clique. Just saying'
Here is a slideshow of her awesome mini. She really made the most of the kit using not just the Plus One products, but the exclusive cards, flair, washi tape, Pinkfresh studio color block heart wood veneers, and sequins! Her project really shows off everything we love about Debutante. Thanks for everything Scrappin' Madge! And thanks to everyone else who joined us at the first Pep Rally! Looking forward to many more to come (with more chances for YOU to be a winner.)

Happy Easter friends! This bright pink watercolor look paper with the big white brush stroke "Love" is such a versatile paper- I love that Debutante does not have a 'theme' and it leaves the creative possibilities wide open! For example, Plus One is in no way an "Easter" collection, but I was able to use it as one. In order to make this an "Easter" page, I followed Jody's tutorial from the other day to die cut some cute felt bunnies. If you missed it, it is here. If I am going to invest in a collection, I want to know that it will work with any number of themes, and most of all, the everyday stuff! The Clique Kits philosophy is to design kits with this in mind.
I also used my Amy Tangerine/American Crafts "Duplicate" embossing folder with some vellum to create a unique looking layer. First, I embossed the vellum while at the same time printing with gold letterpress ink right in the embossing folder! This technique does not give a perfect "letterpress" design but does give a random, somewhat distressed looking print. I then went over some of the cameras with my watercolors to add more pops of the colors in my patterned papers.
I have also been getting tons of mileage from the added printables and die cuts in this kit. It still blows my mind how much more I am using Debutante than any other kit I have ever bought! We wanted Clique Kits to help us move from our old habits of hoarding more supplies than we use, to being efficient, productive, and doing so much scrapping we use our favorite products up! Judging from Debutante so far- I think we are off to an excellent start! Stay tuned for the Pep Rally when the Clique Kits Gals and the Honor Society will be showing you even more ways to use your kit. It's taking place Wednesday, April 23rd starting here on the blog. Join us !
Hello Clique Kits fans! Erica here with you today to share a pocket page layout I did yesterday. Baseball season has started which means my nights will be spent at the baseball fields from now until June! This year we have two of our kids playing so that will be 4 games a week! Crafting time will be cut short for this mama but that is ok with me! Clique Kits has put together kits that make creating quick and simple with coordinating and exclusive products!
Today I want to share with you what I created yesterday late afternoon right before my son's first baseball game! I have had these photos of our two youngest boys sitting on my desk and I knew this kit would be a perfect match for the photos! Debutante has some great black and whites to use as neutrals but also has great pops of color! The color I wanted to really make pop was the yellow from the swing in the photos! I knew this kit had a great yellow flair badge that went perfectly and just happens to have the word PLAY on it and the heart shaped colorblock wood veneers with yellow from Pinkfresh Studio are also a perfect match! Here is a look at my completed pocket page layout!
This style pocket page has room for 4 4x6 photos or cards. I used two of the 4x6 Clique Kits exclusive journal cards for the top two spots and for the bottom left corner I created my own card using pattern paper from the kit and a white piece of cardstock. The last 4x6 spot I ended up using the two 3x4 Clique Kits exclusive journal cards together to create one 4x6! I love how it looks! These Clique Kits exclusive journal cards are not your typical cardstock journal cards. They are nice sturdy journal card with a bit of a shine to them! The quality is amazing and our very own Lacey Gasper has designed each and every one! I used a regular thin point sharpie to add my journaling and there is no smearing or smudges! This kit is great for both girl and boy themed projects. Adding pops of pink instead of the yellow would have made for a very cute girly page for photos of my daughter! I love that this kit offers the great black and whites and the colorful embellishments so that you can add pops of color where ever your heart desires! The possibilities are endless with this kit! Here are a few close ups of my pocket page layout.
