Hey everyone! Erica here with you today to talk about using busy, bold and fun papers on your layouts! I tend to use white cardstock as my base for layouts or a very subtle paper as my layout base but I always admire when other scrabookers use the busy patterns in their layouts! So today I am sharing a layout I created using a beautiful polka dot paper from My Minds Eye that is included in the August 2014 kit.
Now this may not be busy for some scrapbookers but for me this would normally be cut up and used as a layer piece in my layouts but today I went for it and used it as my base! Once my layout was complete and I stuck everything down and committed to using it I really did love how it looked!
To keep my main focal point from looking like it was just floating on the page I adhered two strips of solid paper along the top and the bottom of my page. This helps to ground your layout and give it more of a complete look. I also used some cork embellishment from my stash to try and create a visual triangle to help your eye move around the page.
You can see I also stamped out some tiny hearts from the Lawn Fawn stamp set Wish You Were Here pretty close to the cork embellishments. The Fancy Pants corrugated paper adds some texture to my layout along with the May Arts string that was also included in this months kit! Using busier backgrounds as a base for me will take some getting use to but I am up for the challenge! How about you? Do you love using a busy pattern paper as your base? Feel free to leave your tips and tricks in the comments section below if you would like share! I challenge you to pull out your busiest pattern paper and have some fun! Share with us on Facebook or upload to our Flickr gallery! If you are a subscriber and using one of your kits please upload to our Pinterest group board! I am looking forward to seeing what you all share with us! Thanks so much for stopping today! I really hope you enjoyed my layout today as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you! The July kit was full of fun elements like view master reels, filmstrips, bokeh patterns and more. We decided it would be a fun challenge to use one or more of these items in a project! There will be a prize winner chosen from those who participate in the "Captured on Film" theme challenge, and YOU TOO could win a prize just for commenting and being Clique Kits blog follower or fan on Facebook! The winners will be announced this weekend.

Happy Sunday everybody! I can't believe that it is already July 20th. The summer is flying by! It is already time to start sharing some teasers to get ready for the big reveal of the August Clique Kit! First up, I have a mood board to share. I made this board from some of my 'pins' related to the planning of the August Kit. If you are a subscriber, you may have already seen our graphic announcing "Glam Camp" coming soon. Without giving away too much, I wanted to share a little hint about the kit!
The mood of Glam Camp is all about summer celebrations, friendship, family time, and enjoying the great outdoors. (Just add twinkle lights and flowers!)

I'm so happy it's Friday! What a busy week it's been for us Clique Kits girls and there's still more behinds the scene fun stuff going on. All we can say is whoot whoot!! Yes, yes, I'm such a tease :) Anyway.....
Today I'm sharing a layout with this funky city scape chevron paper by Allison Kreft for Echo Park. I just love it but wondered how I was going to create a layout with this. So, I did what I always do when I'm not quite sure what to do. I chose my photos, started gathering my embellishments and play with our exclusive CK die cuts and printables. I've been addicted to printing our printables onto vellum and I totally love it! I also used a few of our exclusive die cuts, designed by our Lacey :)
And a few more close ups of the die cuts. These are so awesome you guys! I trimmed a couple of them down a little so they fit better and added more layers and dimension with some fun Chic Tags acetate shapes from my June Kit, Show and Tell (there are still a few left in the Clique Kits shop too!)
And here's the real kicker! I created this layout directly on the back of my layout from last week. Crazy huh!? When you are hung up on which side to create a layout on because you love both... create on both! Here a little trick I use for getting these double sided layouts into my page protectors: I put a sheet of 12x12" cardstock on either side to make a "layout sandwich" so to speak. Then I slide the "layout sandwich" into the page protector with no problem. Next just remove your two pieces of cardstock and your good to show it off in your scrapbook!
Thank so much for joining to me today! I've had a blast creating with this kit, which is just about all used up. If you don't have our June or July kits, there are a few left in our Clique Kits Store so hurry up and grab one before they're gone for good. We also have subscriptions open starting in August!! Join our Clique, you'll love it here!
Stay tuned for more Click Into Summer, and other Clique Kits news coming soon!
Jody here today and I'm super excited to share my latest process video with you! When I saw the Allison Kreft's Capture Life line, I just loved it! I love the colors and patterns, especially the teal and pink together. I also feel I can relate to Allison in a few ways. After all, she's a busy mama raising her family all while pursuing her career in design and being creative (sometimes into the late hours of night, which sounds all to familiar!) I think many of us can relate to her on that level!
Being that I love this line right now, I am really crazy about our Midnight Summer's Dream kit! This week I've created a fun video for you, showing little 'ol me creating a layout from start to finish. You'll see how I move things around my layout as I'm putting it together and adding little details towards the end. Well, enough said by me, go grab your favorite beverage (and maybe a snack), sit back and enjoy! BOTLO (be on the look out) for a fun glassine bag pocket filled with the resin shapes, Chic Tags Wood Sequins (in the July Kit) and yellow squares which are negative shapes from die cutting the awesome Echo Park Viewfinder!!
Thank you for watching today! Here are the Clique Kits products used to create today's layout:
July Kit ~ A Midnight Summer's Dream
July Add-on ~ Echo Park Viewfinder Die (LOVE!!)
July Add-on ~ Studio Calico Wood Veneer Enamel Dots (Awesome in person!)
May Add-on ~ Lawn Fawn Stamp Wish You Were Here (fab all around stamp!)
Another Clique Kits post is coming soon!
