Hi friends, it's Theresa here! This week is Story Focus on the Clique Kits blog, and I wanted to share with you a layout that actually uses product to tell its story. This is the layout I am sharing today. I am using the April Winter Park kit and have chosen the die cut ephemera and printables sheet to help tell the story of this layout.
Let me tell you about how this layout evolved! Back in 2015 we took a Spring Break trip to Savannah, GA, and St. Simons Island GA, and I had these adorable photos of our girls at the beach that week. I wanted to create a layout that tells the story of that visit, and all the sights, sounds, and the beauty of the southern states we experienced. My photos are specifically from the beach, but the die cut house from the Winter Park kit reminds me of the Antebellum homes in Savannah.
The photos had been printed at a smaller size, 2x3, so I decided to pull all tags from the kit and any other die cuts that were close to that size to use on the layout. Sometimes the best way to display smaller embellishments is in a grid, and so that is what I did here. Even though there is lots to see on the page, the grid keeps everything orderly.
I fit each of the photos, die cuts, and tags almost like a puzzle into the design of the layout, and then each piece becomes like a home base for other little bits and bobs. I've layered stickers, alphabet, and flair onto each piece. Some of the embellishments I have sewn down using my machine, to add a bit of texture to the layout.
I love repeating elements in my layouts, and since I had sewn some of the tags, I also gave them bows using a really thick, rough twine I had on hand.
All of these layers and textures and colors remind me so much of Savannah and St. Simons Island. Notice how I've allowed several elements to "fall off" the page on the top, bottom, and right hand side. This is part of the visual flow of the page where the elements of the layout extend beyond the edges and become part of the background itself.
There is so much to see and experience on this layout, just like in Savannah. I love how product can carry the feelings from a place right onto the layout.
It was such fun sharing this layout with you! I hope you have been inspired to use products on your layout to tell your story as well!
Hello Clique fans! Here is Réka and today I am sharing my first card created with the beautiful December Main Kit.
This card is very simple and easy but also so cute too!
Let’s start to create it!
First step was to trim the Dear Lizzy: Stargazer - Sun Setting paper to measure 9” inch wide and 5 ¾” inch long and score and fold in half to create a card blank.
After cover the card front with a 4 1/8” x 5 ½” inch piece of white cardstock. I have embossed the white cardstock using the leaves embossing folder from my stash. I have also make some pink and green watercolor splash. You don’t forget to can find some Prima Watercolor paint refills in the shop and remember you can use my code Reka10 to get 10% off your total purchase.
The next step was to sew around the card with my sewing machine.
Finally, I have added some die cut pieces from Dear Lizzy: Stargazer - Copper Foil Ephemera pack and fussy cut the tree and the flowers from Dear Lizzy: Stargazer - Woodland Wonder paper.
And done! I really like how it turned out.
I hope you liked my card. Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful crafty day!
See you next month! Réka

Exploring with Clique Kits - Part 3
Hi Everyone! Welcome back for the final installment of Exploring with Clique Kits. I'm not sure if I'm more sad to be finishing up my time as August's Substitute Teacher or that my gorgeous Glam Camp kit has dwindled down to just a few pieces. I have absolutely loved being part of all the Glam Camp fun and just want to say a huge THANK YOU to the CK Gals for letting me play along.
For my last project, I wanted to add a little CK flair to a major trend in today's crafting world. Background overlays are very popular so I searched for an overlay in Cricut DesignStudio and found a fun circle overlay. I then went ahead and welded some of the cute hearts from the CK digital files from Glam Camp. Adding the little hearts really helped to personalize it. I went ahead and cut the overlay with my Cricut Explore using plain cardstock and then I embossed it with a gold embossing powder... LOVE how it turned out!
I really wasn't sure where this project was going when I started and didn't have a picture in mind, I just started to create. I ended up getting the inspiration to create my first page for my crafty album where I plan to keep all the layouts of pictures from my mommy getaways and scrappy retreats... I went with the title, For the Love of Scrap and used my Explore to cut out the "Love" part of my title... I used a Project Life card which made it such a quick and easy process. Here's a peek -
To finish up I sprinkled a few gold sequins and flower embellishment from my Close to My Heart stash. Check them out here...
And here's the whole layout all together!
Again, I just want thank you all and the CK gals for the opportunity to play along as August's Substitute Teacher. I hope I've inspired you to dig out your die-cutting machines, whether you have a Cricut or a Silhouette... and I hope you start having fun with those wonderful digi-files that come with your kit!
I'll see you around the Clique!
We love the gold embossing on the background die cut and we especially love the addition of the Clique Kits hearts to the circle lattice design-isn't that clever? A beautiful layout for a beautiful photo to document your journey into scrapbooking. Now that you are hooked, we hope you continue on this journey for a long, long time!

Welcome to Glam Camp Friday with Jody! Today we're not only playing with our August Kit Glam Camp, we're also playing with some acrylic paints, dry embossing and vellum. Now, I love this floral background but there's no doubt its bold. Sometimes bold papers scare us away from creating with it, but what we should be doing is embracing it!! Just go for it! Here's one easy way to help you tackle that bold background paper you're dying to use!
My go to supplies for this task are acrylic paint and plain 'ol vellum. I started with a 5" x 7" piece of scrap vellum and ran it through my Sizzix Texture Boutique with my favorite dots embossing folder. It's already cuter just by embossing it! Next, I painted over the backside of the embossed vellum and let it air dry. You can carefully run your heat gun over the painted vellum to speed up the drying time, but since I tend to work in short time frames with our girls home, this was a perfect stopping point for me to go back upstairs and see why it was all of sudden so quiet, because that's rarely a good thing! Turns out, they made a huge fort in Abby and Hannah's bedroom :) Good times! Anyway, I always say it takes just "15 minutes to scrap", and you'll get some layouts done in no time!
Here are a couple close ups of the main elements in my layout. Note: the kraft cardstock with white stamped leaves is from Amy Tangerine for American Crafts and was totally begging to come out of my stash this week. A few other embellishments which are available in the Clique Kits School School under August are the lovely My Minds Eye Enamel Dots, Gold Wood Hearts and Starry Night Confetti. I also included some fabulous UMWOW Studio chipboard clouds and hash tag words! They're just so fun!
Besides the paint on the embossed vellum, I also brushed the same paint in opposite corners of my layout. I simply started off the page and then gently brushed some paint onto the layout. It really added a nice wispy effect and toned down those corners a bit. To compliment the white paint I also added our exclusive Clique Kits die cuts in white card stock to add some pops of white. These really stand out, even against the bold floral background. I even brushed some paint onto the UMWOW Studio chipboard to help tie it all together.
Thanks so much for spending your time with me today! Now, dig out a sheet of bold paper and have some fun with it! I think one of my favorite things about our Glam Camp kit is all the fun gold accents! I love how they catch the light just right and BAM, you see some glam!

Jody here today and I'm super excited to share my latest process video with you! When I saw the Allison Kreft's Capture Life line, I just loved it! I love the colors and patterns, especially the teal and pink together. I also feel I can relate to Allison in a few ways. After all, she's a busy mama raising her family all while pursuing her career in design and being creative (sometimes into the late hours of night, which sounds all to familiar!) I think many of us can relate to her on that level!
Being that I love this line right now, I am really crazy about our Midnight Summer's Dream kit! This week I've created a fun video for you, showing little 'ol me creating a layout from start to finish. You'll see how I move things around my layout as I'm putting it together and adding little details towards the end. Well, enough said by me, go grab your favorite beverage (and maybe a snack), sit back and enjoy! BOTLO (be on the look out) for a fun glassine bag pocket filled with the resin shapes, Chic Tags Wood Sequins (in the July Kit) and yellow squares which are negative shapes from die cutting the awesome Echo Park Viewfinder!!
Thank you for watching today! Here are the Clique Kits products used to create today's layout:
July Kit ~ A Midnight Summer's Dream
July Add-on ~ Echo Park Viewfinder Die (LOVE!!)
July Add-on ~ Studio Calico Wood Veneer Enamel Dots (Awesome in person!)
May Add-on ~ Lawn Fawn Stamp Wish You Were Here (fab all around stamp!)
Another Clique Kits post is coming soon!
