Happy Friday all! Jody here!
Today I have a little test for you. It's simple really. Are you an "A" or "B"? What does that mean? And no, I'm not asking your bra size or what kind of grades you got in school back in the day! Take a look at this Simple Stories paper from the Homespun line. Which side do you like better?
Side A ~ the bold striped pattern overlapping the dots
Side B ~ the light/dark blue dots
Personally, I chose side B to go with my black and white Instagram photo of our little Abby at about 9 months old. Although side A is great for many reasons, I love the blue on blue dots pattern! Generally speaking, the more bold pattern is going to be the "A" side of the paper, while the "B" side is more subdued.
After choosing my background paper, I knew I wanted the majority of the layout to stay within the same color palette. I went with another Simple Stories paper from the Homespun Simple Basics set. It's the dark blue with the slightly lighter dots. It's this pretty together & it could totally be a boy layout minus the splash of pink unless you like that :)
I added a 4x6" Homespun journaling card (the bookprint) to the left of my 4x4" photo. Next, I layered various Simple Stories alphas (I Heart Summer) and other words cut our from other Homespun papers.
TODAY'S TIP ~ Do you find yourself with 'leftover' chipboard stickers from your favorite sets? Here's a fun way to use the up! I love, love, love the Dear Lizzy lines and usually have no problem using up those chipboard stickers. But this time, I was stuck! I had a bunch of little chipboard raindrops in a variety of cute little patterns and colors. Here's what I did with them! I made them into a little flower of sorts and then topped them off with a super cute Pink Fresh Studio Color Block Wood Veneer! A big thank you to Pink Fresh Studios again!! You rock!
And, here are a few more close-ups of my layout so you can see the various layers I added.
Thank you Gia for the sweet chipboard & other goodies you sent me!! I sprinkled them through out my layout and actually loved them left plain Jane! Also making an appearance in the photo below are some enamel dots and lable sticker by My Minds Eye and a chipboard flower by Dear Lizzy.
If you've followed my SpiegelMom Scraps blog for long enough, you already know that I LOVE the May Arts Burlap String! It's absolutely fantastic and has so many applications. I used about 1 yard and wrapped it all the way around my layout for some fun texture. I secured it on the backside of my layout with the masking tape and stapled the edges with my Tim Holtz Tiny Attatcher (a genius mini stapler!).
Take a look at the little details in my layout again & then check your sticker stash for little bits & pieces to use up! I bet you'll find something that can be a pinch hitter for you on your next project.
Thank you stoping by for anothe session of the Locker Room. So, did you figure out if you're an "A" or "B"? Chime in & leave a comment telling us!
